Instead of doing the traditional 'Top 10 Fashion Films' you can find everywhere, I decided to do it this way. What's the point of making a list of movies like 'SATC' and 'The Devil wears Prada' when you already saw all these movies. Why a top 7? Because I like to do random things for no clear reason. That's how hipster I am. Yeah.
Next question. What defines a fashion film? In some cases it's very clear; the subject of the movie simply is fashion or a fashion icon. Like in 'Funny Face' and 'Factory Girl'. In other cases, the styling and character of the actors is so sublime that the movie has become a cultfilm in the fashion world over the years, like 'Clueless', 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' and 'Cry Baby'. And finally, there are those films which just have fashion written all over it for no apparent reason, like 'Nine' and 'A Single Man' (though for the last one, Tom Ford might have something to do with it.)
So here they are, my Top 7 Fashion Films You Haven't Seen Yet;
1) Clueless (1995)
2) A Single Man (2009)
3) Factory Girl (2006)
4) Cry Baby (1990)
5) Funny Face (1957)
6) Nine (2009)
7) Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

Breakfast at Tiffany's is my number one! :)
ReplyDeleteI <3 A Single Man. Best photography and style.

Breakfast at Tiffany's, oh lord, mouth-watering, jaw-dropping, eye-tearing FASHION! Hubert de Givenchy designed all the outfits Audrey wore. She even was his muse. What a beauty, what a classic beauty. I got a Single Man at home and you know what, I still haven't watched it! I have to see it! I'm very much wondering how Tom Ford managed his role as director. http://fashionmaniaatlarge.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteNine is great!
