The third stop on the TBY3 journey is the SS'13 Filippa K collection. In order to get to know the collection, we had the quest to browse through the collection and create a look with our favorite pieces.
When I first saw the collection I immediately had to think of Dutch fashion darling Jean-Paul Paula. The strong lines, minimalistic design and interesting cuts but especially the gorgeous shoes brought up one particular image in my mind. I used it as an inspiration to complete the outfit.
What I went for is an androgynous look. Wide, black high-waist trousers and a tucked-in knitted striped sweater give the ensemble a Parisian feel. It is something I could easily imagine on JP Paula. Or on myself, for that matter.
I like Filippa K as a brand because they have a clear esthetical direction and a strong ethical motivation. For example, they have based their Code of Conduct on the UN’s principles on human rights, employment law issues and the International Labour Organization’s conventions on rights in the workplace. As you know, ethical fashion is something I feel strongly about.
"The core values of Filippa K are Style, Simplicity and Quality. We apply these values to everything we do. From the design phase and the development of our collections to the ambience of our stores and the way in which we approach our customers, partners and one another"
The spring-summer '13 collection is once more an example of this strategy. Lots of blacks and blues, many timeless pieces, both for men and women. There is also a noticeable influnce of the Scandinavian roots of Filippa K.
